The challenge
Glories Ice is one of Kolkata's most-loved ice cream parlours — but behind the scoops and sundaes sat an operation that had quietly outgrown its tools. With 150 menu items spread across 6 categories, and up to 4 size variants per item (cup, cone, waffle, tub), every day of trading generated hundreds of line items that needed to be tracked, taxed, and reconciled.
GST calculation was manual. The team calculated tax separately for each sale type, with different rates applying to different product formats. Mistakes were caught at month-end — after the damage was done.
Month-end reconciliation was the worst of it. Two full working days spent cross-referencing handwritten logs, POS exports from one system, and a supplier invoice spreadsheet in another. By the time the numbers were right, decisions about the coming month were already delayed.
The owner needed real-time visibility into what was selling, what wasn't, and what stock was running low — without needing an accountant to extract it.
The solution
KhanaOS POS was configured with all 150 items across 6 categories, with each size variant priced, GST-coded, and inventory-mapped separately. The setup took one working day.
Inventory auto-deduction was enabled for every item — each scoop served automatically reduces the corresponding stock quantity. Reorder alerts were configured for high-velocity items like vanilla base, fresh cream, and waffle cones.
The GST engine was configured to apply the correct rate automatically per item category, eliminating manual calculation and its associated errors entirely.
The daily dashboard — visible from the owner's phone — shows real-time revenue, category-level breakdown, and closing inventory the moment they need it.
